Hosting and organizing a hackathon
Now that I’ve competed, it’s time to provide the opportunity for other students!

My Role
I acted as the hackathon manager and lead organizer. Using my public relations skills, we turned this event into a collaborative effort among six different computer science student organizations. And in securing sponsors, it also became an opportunity for a new energy drink company to reach its target audience by using this as an activation event.
- Brought together industry professionals and UF faculty to serve as the judging panel, along with securing a corporate sponsorship to create this opportunity for students at the University of Florida to get practical industry exposure.
- Delivered a multifaceted promotional strategy, including press releases for the sponsor and social media outreach, to increase event visibility on UF’s campus and participant engagement.
- Authored all event-related content from the website to detailed competition guidelines, sponsorship materials and digital communications, ensuring clarity and consistency across platforms.
The Challenge
Create something for teachers, a student organization, any niche group on campus, or for our sponsor Dino Luzzi Energy Drinks that can help or improve some functionality. Make a product or application that executes this task within 24 hours.
Solution
Around 94 students completed the challenge with a total of 25 project submissions by the competition deadline.
